Welcome to our Online Collections Database!

Since its inception, the Museum has been collecting, scanning and cataloguing historical artifacts, documents, photographs, and narratives. Our online collection currently contains approximately 18,800 archival items. Each page on record for an item may be composed of a descriptive text, thumbnail image(s), biographies of associated individuals, etc. Counting all of these individual but related components of each page on record per item will generate a higher number of actual items. For example, the BHM records search can produce 40,000+ results when doing a search of the database when computing all possible connections to a person, site, event, etc. In addition, we do have many more items in the Museum collection to be added to our online database which continues to grow and expand. Adding items to the database increases our fees for annual renewals, upgrades to the program, and increased capacity, as well as IT hardware purchases and maintenance. As we are able to finance more online capacity, we will continue to upload images and input research narratives. Meanwhile, we appreciate your patience and contributions to both our research and funding. We hope our work here will help you better understand and appreciate Benicia’s unique place in the history of California and our country.
